We are learning everyday. Sometimes we are thriving. Sometimes we are surviving and barely. We are learning to live in the good moments and pray through the bad. Today itself was interesting.
So today I thought I would do a what we have learned blog........
Today we learned that $85 physicals mean nothing. We had our daughters physicals and like I suspected, it was 5 minutes if that. Most time was spent signing paperwork and waiting. More time was spent driving.
Today we learned that speaking even the least amount of Swahili will help calm our girls nerves. I am sure they are making fun of my accent, but it seems to be calming the waters. Today, Katie (who we are going to try to start calling Marie) brought me my swahili dictionary when she realized that it would help me communicate.
Today we learned that we are out foxed by two 3 year old girls. Not having toddlers for a while has presented a challenge. Peeing in your dress and not on the potty gets to be rather tiring for parents. Not to mention the laundry.
Today (okay, Monday) we learned that 5 days in the hospital with X-rays and IVs for 2 girls cost us 1250.00 How is this? Everything else is way expensive.
Today we learned that play and words like "I love you" go a long way.
Today we learned that the girls like tea with milk. They call it chai..........
Today we learned that we will eat Indian food out of a box for dinner until we leave.
Today we learned that our girls are left and right handed.
Today we learned that our girls are rather athletic. They love to kicks balls and hard. I mean hard. We have a 1/3 of a soccer team.
Today we learned that we don't really know what to do with this hair. Thank God we have neighbors that know how to braid.
Today we fully understood that we are in lock down in this place unless (David our contact) comes to pick us up and take us places.
Today I learned I can walk around the grocery store and shop without any problems.
Today I learned that my credit card works here.
Today I learned that wearing my shirt for 3 days does not do much for the smell. Thinking of Andy Braner now. He loves sweaty shirts. Please send him some in the mail.
Today we learned that our two beautiful girls in Oklahoma love us dearly. We love them and miss them dearly.
Today we learned that we should not hang the dish towel with pee on the stove. Really makes the stove area smell like urine.
Today I learned that we could not do this thing without the prayers and love from all of you out there.

Kayla says she can't WAIT to braid that hair! Our girls think your girls are adorable and we can't wait to see them soon! Brett says he could have told you that pee by the stove would stink;)! Kenna finished Steamworks today in 3:19 (ok, 3:12 when you take out potty stops)! Heidi Ragsdale was looking for both of you, and was THRILLED to hear you would not be running today!!! Jenny ran 6 miles with us and Brett ran 3. It was such a blast! My parents, niece, Kayla, Carver and Gracie were cheering us on. So sweet! We love you so very, very much and will continue to pray for favor with Brooke as well as healthy girls-all four of them! Praying lots and lots for you two and your stamina and focus while on lockdown.
ReplyDeleteWe made it to Lake City today. If always feels like coming home - must be a God thing because I was grumbling and dragging my feet this morning...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE reading this blog and having the immense privilege of sharing in your journey. You two are blowing us away and we are learning so much from you both.
We will pray for one miracle after another for you and the girls. BTW, loved the FB pic of the girls doing their fundraising!
Hugs to you both and to the little ones as well!
Karen
I love hearing of all the things you are learning.
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to the daily updates and continue to pray for you all that everything falls into place in God's timing!
