Passport photos and Indian food
Today was an interesting day. We started early this morning, since we had to get all of the medicines down the hatch. The girls did sleep rather well. Just don't ask Valerie about that one. The girls ended up on top of her and eventually traded places on the twin bed with one while I shared the queen with another. It seems as though Valerie has two little shadows.
Mama this. Mama that. It never stops right now. I am just a stranger in the room that they laugh at. Yea! I'm on a DRC vacation, except that I now have two toddlers in my room.
Some facts about the girls. Katie loves hardly anything. Judith loves almost everything. Pretty similar to our two biological kids. Peanut butter is a plus around this room. It is filling and both eat it. 8 dollar baby bell cheese is a plus with bread. You just give them the package, a piece of bread, one finger and you have a smashed finger cheese sandwich. Tonight we had Indian food. Rice, packaged dal makani and peas from a can. We gave the girls plain rice and when they saw ours they started crying. We shared our food, they (Katie) that is shared her peas. No veggies for this girl.
Today we went to the passport place for pictures. Supposedly we are getting the passports by 2pm tomorrow. Another prayer request. If this is the case we can go to the embassy on Friday for our visa appointments. Saturday we are supposed to see the doctor for our embassy physicals. Pray for this one too, as the doctor does not normally see kids Saturday.
We spent hours in the crazy traffic and about an hour just sitting in the car waiting. The girls did really well. Kate and Abby would never have endured that type of waiting. We ended our trip with a stop to the grocery store. A rather pleasant experience that allowed us to eat our fine cuisine tonight. We then ended the day at the swimming pool. The girls just splashed at the edge while I swam laps. Remember I am on vacation and need to train for imogene somehow. Anyway, we had lots of fun and are beginning to work through some of the issues we have seen in the past couple of days.
The girls woke up in wonderful moods. There were very few fits despite some tense moments. These two girls are such beautiful girls and they will need some time to recover from the trauma in their lives, but I can't wait to see how it turns out in the end. Please pray for their little broken hearts.
Thanks for the comments and prayers we need all we can get. This place is tough and we have not even been here very long at all. I will try to add pics soon. Our laptop is not connecting for some reason. Thank god for iPads . Whether you like apple or not.

ReplyDeleteOh so thrilled that Valerie got to hear those words that she has been longing to hear ~ "Mama"!!! PRAISE GOD!!! Glad to hear the passport photos are done and miraculous that they think they will be ready tomorrow. The prayer list is long but our God is ABLE!!! I'm praying boldly and fervently!!! Love you all and am glad that youare enjoying your vacation Darren. :)

Gracie and gang
Praying for those appointments... I agree with Gracie, that these girlies are going to come home way earlier than we expected! I am crying and crying hearing that the girls love their Mama! It is so amazing to watch how the Holy Spirit knits hearts together! I just keep thinking about how Valerie KNEW something was wrong and her girls needed HER! Wow... We love you all so much and are constantly praying for all 6 of you!!!
