Pizza in the DRC

Tonight as I write, we are waiting for pizza.  We decided to order out tonight after a long embassy interview.  Okay, the interview took literally 5 minutes.  The wait however,  a minimum of an hour in the warm (hot to us Colorado people) in the car.  We even saw people wearing sweaters and it was at least 75 with 90% humidity.  By the way $70 for four 12 inch pizzas.  Dominos would give Apple a run for their money if they charged that much.

Our interview consisted of just about 5 questions, but seemed to be an eternity as the woman conducting it behind the bullet proof glass was rather cold.  She is the lady we were hoping not to get.  Her investigations seem to drag on forever and seem to  cause families to stay in DRC much longer. (noted she is just doing her job) Valerie was extremely discouraged by this.  I did remind her that we should not have had the interview, except for the fact that we were provided with a miracle.  We had passports.

Tomorrow we go to the doctor for our obligatory physicals for the girls.  This should be interesting.  I am guessing for $85 a piece we will spend 5 to 10 minutes in the office with little to no examination.  Can we pay Valerie?  We are temporarily living next to a PA and a nurse.  We have our own little clinic here at Sunny Day.

Anyway, after tomorrow we sit for a while.  Ahhhhhhh  DRC vacation.  Here lies the hardest part.  Waiting for people to send us home.  We will enjoy not having to get the girls ready to sit in a hot car for an hour plus, but it will be hardest waiting.  This is where we pray hard and on our knees for Brooke the embassy woman.  We are praying that our neighbor Sheresa gets to leave soon.  Actually, I take that back, because her sister helped with the medications tonight and it went much better.  Both children like me, because I don't have to hold them down when we put the malaria medicine in their mouth.  Yeah Amber.  Please stay for the entire time we are here.  I hate to see her bill though.

I will keep it short today.  We are all well.  We are thriving in the DRC and we are bonding.  What more could I ask for?  Not many pics today, but I will add a couple.

  1. I can't wait to hug all of you! We will pray lots for Brooke and are very grateful for the details. The girls look amazing and we are so thankful they like you more because of Amber's medicinal skills:)! Valerie, please be encouraged! Your prolonged stay reminds me of the time spent in the hospital after giving birth - it is a precious and necessary bonding time before heading home and returning to everyday life. Soak up every moment! We love you so dearly and would love to be in contact with K and A, is that possible? We are praying lots for them as well. We will pray for an excellent report at the doctor's tomorrow! We love you so very, very much!!!
